Match Report 3rd October 2022

Despite a rocky start for the Koos against the experienced Abingdon team on Monday night, the rallied strongly in the middle two quarters to produce an impressive performance for their first match in the Oxfordshire Netball League – and for some, their first time playing since the summer break. The errors that naturally came with a newly formed team were largely neutralised by the Koos’ solid defensive performance, which saw turnovers throughout the court, from the circle defence and the midcourt -where feisty determination from Elena and Amelie meant many balls were snatched back from the opposition – to the shooting circle, where Georgia and Zoe retained possession with many rebounds. The Koos showed their versatility, with constant changes in the circle defence and midcourt, as well as their endurance and adaptability, as Georgia and Zoe played a full match as GA and GS, stepping up and significantly altering their play against a physical defensive opposition – producing many beautiful passages of play with Zoe’s strong hold and Georgia’s swift backline drives. Although Abingdon came away with the win, the Koos showed their promise and potential for a very successful season ahead! Player of the Match – Elena Baldry (WD)
