Oxford University Blues Vs Staffordshire University
The netball first team travelled all the way to Stoke for the second round of the BUCS midlands conference cup but the large mileage was duly rewarded, with a huge 79-13 final score. After just the first centre pass, the Blues were confident that they were the better team and they continued to prove it for the rest of the match. Captain Catherine Lavender sad it was a nice-tempered match and the Blues had a little extra fun in the last quarter, mixing up their normal playing positions – probably the most extreme changebeing Elsa Wakeman’s stint at C! In the next round of the cup the Blues will face Coventry University 1sts.
Oxford University Roos Vs Birmingham City University
In true Roos’ tradition, the start of the match was a little under par, but thanks to a new warm-up regime devised by Vice Captain Hannah Danbury, the Roos were still able to edge ahead and take the first quarter 7-6. After a few quarter-time changes, the team really settled into their game. The set plays and centre passes that have been the focus of recent training sessions really came to fruition and more turnovers were successfully converted, so the final score was a comfortable 43-18 win for Oxford. Ellen O’Brien put in another fantastic performance and was awarded player of the match.
